Another character from the '90s Flash, James Jesse/Trickster, makes a couple of cameo appearances in The Flash, played by the same actor, Mark Hamill. The costume alone cost the production team $100,000 to put together and it looked just like the costume Barry wore in the comics. People who have read various books are going to easily recognize the book’s plot. In the case of Harry Flashman, however, the adventures are much more detailed because Fraser used an entire series of novels. If you haven’t read this series yet – please do. He was first introduced in Showcase #4, written by Robert Kanigher and John Broome with pencils by Joe Kubert and Carmine Infantino in 1956. From what I read in the reviews it looks like just my cup of tea, and boy howdy is it. Apart from the fact that the Flashman in Peninsula has been well written, it is also a fun read and a great yarn. How do we distinguish between the author and the characters he writes? I have read Flashman and Flashman at the Charge. This does grant her similar powers to a speedster, but she has additional abilities as well. Over the series, written over a 30 year period, Harry Flashman becomes one of Victorian England's most decorated military heros while in actuality he's its most craven coward. Bart made a few other appearances during the show's run, but as a weird amalgam of various different Flashes from the comics, he never made a big impression. We decided to throw this one-off character onto this list simply because his power level is pretty high on the speedster-scale. You get a good feel for Flashman's character early on. Royal Flash is one of the best books in the Flashman series. Flashy - a cross between Terry Thomas and Dick Dastardly - rapes, flirts, lies and seduces when he's not praying for the death of his comrades... and lands on his feet every time. The lengths his “betters” go to endanger him in the name of Victorian brio create a series of humorous predicaments. The characters in the Royal Flash novel are exceedingly interesting. This is the first book, originally published in 1969, and it began one of the greatest series of historical fiction in the English language. Another book Neil Gaiman mentioned in his blog. One assumes he will take her to task when it is safe, probably with a riding crop. Give me a promiscuous, drunken coward nine times out ten; the tenth time being when it was my hide or Flashman's and I can be sure he'd sell me into slavery to protect his own skin. Perhaps because I'm a gal, a couple chapters into this book I wondered if I was going to have to force myself to keep going.

Let me begin this review by saying that my star rating has less to do with the quality of the book and more with the fact that it was a bad match for my reading tastes. He even rides to the attack singing Rule Brittania for Christ’s sake!
The answer is no. There have been a number of crossover episodes with the series thanks to Barry's ability to jump from one universe to another. The books heavily satirize Victorian society and morality. But when it comes to underhandedness “Ol’ Flash Harry” beats Maverick hands-down. Finally a review that tells me what these books are about! Robert Brightwell is an excellent storyteller, many reviewers have pointed out that the Flashman, and the Sea Wolf book series would have been better as a standalone series instead of being a spin-off.
